What We Do
Women to Women International works with communities throughout the world to develop and transform women’s lives. Although most countries are part of an international legal framework which guarantees the rights of women, often it has little impact on daily life.
Many women in developing countries have little understanding and knowledge of their guaranteed basic rights to health care, education and economic opportunity. This impacts dramatically on the communities in which they live, economically, with their ability to contribute to the household income severely reduced, and in health terms, with lack of knowledge about medical care increasing the risk of maternal and child illness, disability and early death.
A true understanding of how to meet and overcome the barriers women face in accessing fundamental human rights can be best communicated by women who have successfully overcome them. Women to Women International uses innovative techniques in which women from local communities come together to inform and educate each other.
